Last Monday I brought you a photo of my brother who was taking part in a 1,400km cycle around Ireland with Cycle Against Suicide raising awareness for about suicide and depression in young people.
They have cycled the length and breath of this island visiting schools and colleges along the way spreading the message “It’s ok not to feel ok; and it’s absolutely ok to ask for help”.

However the event was marred by a very sad and tragic event. On Wednesday 7th May one of teams motorcycle marshals Brenawn O’Connell lost his life in a tragic accident in Donegal. No cyclists were involved in the accident.
The future of the cycle was in doubt however despite this being a very painful time for Brenawn’s family, they expressed their wishes that the cycle continue.

It was an emotional morning as they began their journey home and the team held a minute’s silence to say goodbye to their friend.
But continue they did and last evening at 6pm the convoy of almost 1,500 cyclists rolled into Dublin having completed their epic challenge.
I’m so proud of my brother – what an amazing achievement!
Enjoy your pint bro….. You deserve it xx
