Photo of the Week – 12th June 2013

This week’s photo means a lot to me.  35 years ago I began a friendship with a group of children from our local area.  As we moved from childhood to our teenage years, our little group grew bigger and we made friendships that would last a lifetime.  We’ve shared weddings, funerals, christenings, birthdays……..

Over the years some stayed in the local area, some moved to different cities, counties, countries and continents.  Even though not all of us have stayed in touch with everyone, we have all stayed in touch with someone so the friend link still remained.

This year is the year of The Gathering so we thought it might be fun to have a little reunion.  We arranged dinner and dancing in a local restaurant.  The excitement was palpable.  25 grown adults whisked back to their teenage years. 😀

Every conversation began with “do you remember……”

The Gathering

The only down side was,  that as this was a bit of a spontaneous idea (we arranged the whole thing in about a week),  some of our oversee’s friends didn’t have time to make travel arrangements and couldn’t join us. But we are thinking of having a repeat performance at the end of August so watch this space…….

Are you planning any Gatherings? I’d love to hear about it if you are.
