Happy 80th Birthday Mammy

I’m going off topic today but it’s my mums 80th birthday today so I hope you’ll forgive me!

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this woman.  She has been there for me throughout my life, always there with a tissue or a hug and words of encouragement (or criticism if I needed them).

I wanted to do something to mark her 80 years on this planet.  However I was under strict instructions not to have a large party as she doesn’t want people knowing her age!  (So she’s going to love me for putting it on the internet for the world to see) 🙂 🙂 🙂

Mum always perfers to entertain than to be entertained.  Her mum passed away when she was only 12 and suddenly she was not only a child, but also a home maker and mum to her younger siblings.  We often joke that that’s the reason she is such a good hostess, because she started at such a young age!  But I was adamant we had to do something to celebrate her birthday so she agreed to having a family get together in my house. And trust me, to have her up as guest of honour was an achievement in itself.

There was just John and I, my brother, her granddaughters, nieces, nephew, grand nieces, her sister in law, niece and nephew in laws, and a couple of very close family friends.  Luckily the weather was lovely so the BBQ was lit and the wine was flowing 🙂
