Fall In Love With Autumn Decor

The clocks are going back shortly and the nights are closing in so that can only mean one thing. Yep, it’s time to settle in for the long hibernation ahead.

I’m a sucker for this time of year.  I love the changing colours of the landscape and walking the dog in the countryside with the feel of crisp fallen leaves underfoot.  Ok I’m not such a fan of having to wash him when we get home because he’s managed to bring half of the countryside home on his paws and coat.  But hey, it’s a small sacrifice.

I also love to cosy up the house at this time of year. Sitting snuggled up on the sofa on a cold dark evening with cushions and a throw, candlelights flickering and a blazing fire and I’m one happy little camper.

Decorating your home for Autumn needn’t cost the earth.  In fact you don’t even need to grab the paint brush or rush out investing in statement pieces.  All you need are a few well chosen accessories and a little help from Mother Nature.

Revamp your gallery wall using Autumn scenic images and some dried leaves. Extra bonus points for placing Autumn accessories nearby 🙂

Bring nature inside by gathering some leaves, twigs and berries from the garden and arrange in pretty displays.

Autumn decor centrepiece by Emerald Interior Design

I created this centrepiece using some berries from the garden and placed on a tray with some mason jars, candlesticks and some potpourri.  Total cost ZERO!! Hat tip to Vidya over at Whats Ur Home Story for this idea. However the berries are already looking a bit sad so I’m going to switch them with some dried leaf branches.

You can create a great visual impact simply by using two contrasting colours.  Mix autumn leaves with some colourful vases or mason jars for a very simple yet striking display. Blue, purple and green work great against the autumn shades of orange, red and yellow.

Copper Accessories from the Next collection.
Bling up your home with some copper accessories. Metallics are a great way to bounce light and give your living space some glitzy glam.

Decorate your fireplace mantle with candles, pine cones, and wood for an autumnal feel.

I love this elegant display from Elegant Nest (see what I did there 🙂 )  This would look great on a mantlepiece or a console table.
