The evenings may be closing in and autumn/winter is approaching (did it ever leave, I hear you ask). But dark dreary evenings doesn’t mean dark dreary interiors. Brighten up your home this autumn with these colourful ideas.
One of my favourite trends at the moment is mismatched dining chairs. We no longer have to have the perfect set of 6 or 8 chairs around the dining table. Paint your kitchen chairs in pretty colours to bring a touch of vintage romance to your home.

Or stick with one colour to produce a perfect burst of colour in a white kitchen.

Accessorize
Adding splashes of colour to an otherwise monochromatic scheme can really add personality to your home.
Although this kitchen from Houzz.com has a lovely contemporary feel to it, the glass splash back forms the basis for the colour explosion while the lime green accessories bring the scheme together.
I absoloutly love how this room comes alive with these bright scatter cushions. Change the cushions and you can change the look of this room on a whim.
Liven up the Bedroom
Add bright bed linen, throws and cushions and perk up a neutral bedroom almost instantly.

Again in this image from apartment therapy we see how splashes of orange can make such a difference to an otherwise neutral room.
Less is More
Introduce colour into just one element of the space to give the wow factor.

So don’t let winter drag you down. Be bold and pick a bright vibrant colour and introduce it into your home. You don’t even need to re-decorate. Just add your chosen colour here and there, accessorise a table, add some colourful cushions, a rug, even a vase!
